Ok, I grew up in a house that among other things gave me a decent education in classic rock. And when I think of the past few days I've had, the line of an old Pink Floyd song comes to mind "Fritter, and waste the hours in an offhand way". I haven't prioritized my time well, haven't even made a simple checklist of things that need to be done. I know that things are piling up, but I've found little motivation to even start let alone finish any of them.
This is definitely the result of the isolation of bi-vocationality. I personally am a team player, a co-conspirator if you will. In my instance, yesterday I sat in an office for about 7 hours with getting or making maybe 2 phone calls. Aside from that not a single human voice entered my life. Now to some that may sound like a little slice of Heaven, but when you are trying to get motivated and the only thing you can seem to do is look for yet another kid falling on his face on YouTube, you've got a real problem!
So consider this your call from a friend, or a volunteer, or your Sr. Pastor, saying "Hey how's your weekly service coming along?" or "You know, that Summer Retreat is coming up in just about a month!?", "Let's get the ball rolling on this next project!". Let's get through this together, give me your thoughts on getting motivated, what projects are piling up? Share them here and we'll compare notes.
Thanks for reading.
